Be prepared.
Much of Arkansas will be in the path of a total
solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
State and local officials have alerted us to
prepare for as many as 1 million visitors
during that time, which will put a strain
on our infrastructure and technology.
Chambers Bank plans to offer drive-thru-only
service at most of our branches on Monday,
April 8; however, due to expected traffic
congestion, we encourage you to conduct
your regular banking transactions prior to
that date.
Take care of your banking early.
Have cash on hand in case card readers aren’t working or are slow.
Businesses: Get change and make your standard transactions the week before the event.
Be ready for a lot of traffic.
If you’re working on April 8, pack your lunch, snacks and bottled water, and give yourself extra time for your commute.
Businesses: Make sure to communicate with your employees and customers. Let them know if you’ll be open or closed or if you’ll have special hours. Remind employees to allow extra time to get to and from work.
Prepare yourself for cellular and Wifi service interruptions.
The influx of people will put a strain on cell towers and internet connections.
Businesses: Prepare for reduced communication possibilities and have backup plans. Card readers may not work or may be slow.
Fuel up your car and get groceries and supplies early.
Get gas, buy groceries and run errands prior to the day of the event.
Businesses: consider ordering supplies for early delivery the week before.
Be extra patient.
Arkansas expects over 1 million visitors on April 8, which will put a strain on our roads, emergency services and other infrastructure. Be friendly to travelers (who are spending money in our communities!) and grateful for our excellent first responders, who are sure to be extra taxed during this stressful time.
