Meet Your Banker – Gina Epperson

July 24, 2023

Gina Epperson started her banking career in September 1981 at Scott County Bank in Waldron (now Chambers Bank). After nine years at that location, she was transferred to Mansfield to open the branch there, where she has worked for the past 32 years.

As she celebrates her 42nd bank anniversary this fall, Epperson is amazed by the changes she’s seen.

“The banking industry so different than when I started working here,” Epperson said. “I started in the bookkeeping department filing checks and working up statements. Now checks are imaged and statements are created electronically. Loans documents used to be typed on a typewriter and now they’re keyed on a computer. Teller transactions were viewed on microfilm or microfiche, which was delivered daily by the Federal Reserve. Now everything is shown on our computers in real time. Customers use ATMs for cash and deposits, we get faxes by email, have meetings on Microsoft Teams, and use debit cards instead of checks.  Almost any type of banking can be done by phone or online without ever stepping into the bank.”

During the past four decades, Epperson has served as a bookkeeper, loan assistant, loan officer and customer service representative. She’s now an assistant vice president and retail branch manager at the Mansfield branch. But no matter her job title, her favorite part of the job has always been helping people. “The best part of my job is being able to help customers with their needs,” she said. “The Lord has truly blessed me with my family, friends and my career.”

“I believe the people I have worked with through the years have helped me keep going at Chambers Bank,” Epperson said. “My co-workers, whether they be at Mansfield or any other location, are like family to me and have treated me as family, too. When you work with good people, it makes your job so much better.”

Thank you, Gina, for over 41 years of dedicated service to our customers!
