Meet Your Banker – Vickie Rounsaville

June 28, 2023

When Vickie Rounsaville graduated from high school, she had plans to go to business school. But after interviewing with Danville State Bank (now Chambers Bank) in 1977, she began her banking career at the age of 17 and has never looked back.

“I filed checks, answered the telephones, did research, and filmed statements,” Rounsaville said. “We were a small bank then, and we all did a little bit of everything. But I’m grateful that I was allowed to do a lot of different things. It kept me learning and it kept my work interesting.”

During her long career with Chambers, Rounsaville has worked in almost every department and has gone through multiple mergers, acquisitions and other changes. “Preparing for the year 2000 was one of the more interesting times we’ve had here. We did a lot of testing to make sure we were ready for every scenario. Luckily everything worked and the customers had no disruptions.”

After nearly five decades in banking, Rounsaville is grateful for the opportunities she’s had at Chambers Bank.

“I never thought I’d still be here 46 years later,” Rounsaville said. “I’ve worked with so many awesome people. I have such good relationships with the employees here as well as vendors and customers.”

She’s also thankful for the continual support she’s received from bank ownership. “The Chambers family put a lot of trust in me,” Rounsaville said. “I always did my best for them and for the customers. We’ve gone from a small community bank to a $1 billion bank, and it hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve always had good management.”

Rounsaville feels like she was destined to work at Chambers Bank. “I’m where I was meant to be,” she said. “I know that God had a purpose for my being here and I always tried to honor that.”

When asked what advice she would give to someone just starting their banking career, she said, “Always do your best and never stop learning, “Rounsaville said. “You must be adaptable to be in banking. You cannot succeed if you cannot adapt.”

Vickie Rounsaville is one of the most respected members of the Chambers Bank family and we are grateful for her 46 years of excellent service.
